PRAYER
Thirsting for God
Rosalie Naglich
27-Nov-2006
Psalm 42:1-2 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my
soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the
living God; when shall I come and appear before God?

The deer must satisfy his thirst, but we as Christians need to long for the water of the Word that will satisfy our spiritual thirst. Pant means to long demonstratively, to show clearly and deliberately. Sometimes our thirst for God can wane when we entertain our flesh. We need to demonstrate our thirst rather than satisfy our flesh.

Do we truly desire the living water? Jesus is the living water and He alone can quench any thirst. I think of prayer as thirsting for God and as I do, I will begin to pant after the water brooks and do those things that please Him.

Just as the deer seeks out many water brooks, there are multiple ways that God will quench our thirst. Prayer can be one water brook that will satisfy our thirst because it is demonstrating our love for a need in the heart of the Father.
Our prayer...
Father, I desire to pant again after You, to demonstrate my love for You by giving myself to intercession on behalf of others. The world is becoming more wicked and the Gospel is being diluted, and the Word is being tainted with false doctrine. I ask that Your people would pant after You. I pray for those that do not know You, that they would be thirsty for Your Spirit rather than for the things of the world that do not satisfy. I pray for people in every nation to hunger and thirst after the Living God. Holy Spirit, brood over the nations that they would have a divine visitation with the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Change the spiritual climate in the nations. Grant unto Your people a divine impartation of power to do the will of God. Open the eyes of those who are bound with religious tradition and unbelief, that they would hear the glorious Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Send Your rain Lord! Water the hearts of Your people with the water of the Word. Many hearts are so dry and parched for the rain of Your Spirit. It is Your will that all men be saved. Be glorified Jesus, be glorified!
