PRAYER
Pray for Colombia
Christian Solidarity Worldwide Advocacy Team
23-Mar-2006
Dear Friends,

We have received more sad news from Colombia and would ask you to continue to pray for the Christian community in the town of Buenaventura. As many of you will recall, we asked for your prayers two weeks ago after Pastor Oscar Munoz was brutally assassinated in his home.

A second pastor in the same city has now been killed. Pastor Alfredo Orozco, age 33 and leader of the “New Beginnings” Church, was shot five times in the head as he left his home on March 14th. According to www.gospelnoticias.com he had been organizing a day of fasting and prayer with other local pastors in response to the first assassination and the general atmosphere of fear in the city.

It is still unclear who is behind the assassinations but there have been unconfirmed rumours that the names of these two pastors were on a longer list of “condemned” pastors in the city. There is a strong paramilitary presence in the city and the surrounding area.

Thank you,

CSW Advocacy Team
Our prayer...
Our partners in Colombia have asked for continued prayer for this community and particularly for the families of these pastors and for clarity for church leaders to know how to respond. Please pray for God’s peace to reign in Buenaventura and for protection for the Christians in that community.
